About Southshore Bill

Southshore Bill lives with his family in a suburb of Rochester, NY, on the south shore of Lake Ontario. A while back, it was an occasional nickname applied by a former boss.

Bill knows first-hand about certain topics: health care, education, cultural institutions, communications theory and public relations practice, and what used to be called “alternative” journalism — a while back, he worked for Pacifica Radio and the SF Bay Guardian when he lived in the Bay Area. He is also knowledgeable about science writing and journalism. He will post and link and comment on these topics most frequently.

Bill cares about politics and government, and he agrees with most of Charlie Pierce’s argument in his book, Idiot America.  He agrees with the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan that “everyone is entitled to his opinion, but not to his own facts,” and he agrees with Stephen Colbert that truthiness is a plague. So you can expect posts and links and comments addressing these topics, too. He will try hard not to embarrass his children.
